Slaughter, James "Jimbo" (Summerville)

James "Jimbo" Slaughter, age 62, of Back Berryton Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, September 22, 2017, morning at his residence following an illness.

He was born in Cartersville, Ga. on Oct. 7, 1954 to the late Thomas William and Vera Leona Light Slaughter.  He was a member of Berryton Bible Mission and a carpenter for W. H. Bass Company.

Mr. Slaughter was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Slaughter, and brother, Stanley Gillam. 

Surviving are his wife, Judy Slaughter; daughters, Kayle Warren, and Misty and Dabo Smith; son, David and Tiffany Slaughter; sisters, Teresa Silvers, Sandi and Ken Talley; brothers, Gary and Karen Slaughter and Jerry and Ruthie Gillam; son-in-law, Michael and Katie Warren; and 12 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. 

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Sept. 24, at 3 p.m. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Pastor Jerry Rutledge officiating, interment in Lyerly Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Randall Abernathy, Billy Abernathy, James Abernathy, Dustin Ivey, Justin Silvers, and Dewayne Clark. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Bridges, Tim Abernathy, Don Lumpkin, Rick Lumpkin, Robert Walker, Tony Prater, Kyle Parker, and Ronnie Watson.  

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6-8 p.m..; at other hours the family will be at the residence.
