Luther Shipley
Luther Lee Shipley Jr., 87, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Lee and Hazel Shipley; sisters, Naomi Lee and Mildred Harris, and great-granddaughter Finley Sorrells.
A Korean War veteran, he retired from Hamilton County and American Lava/3M Company.
Survivors include his loving wife; Ruthie Shipley of Ooltewah, Tennessee, sons; Randy Lee Shipley of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Steven Shipley of Ooltewah, Tennessee, grandchildren; Kassi, Amanda, Amika, Chrissy and Angela, great-grandchildren; Christopher, Taylor, Avery, Cash, Cael, Ava, Ashlyn, Weston and a great, great-grandchild, Bo.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018 in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Shad Chandler officiating. Interment will be at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 22.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family will be setting up a college scholarship fund for his great- grandsons, Christopher and Taylor Swartout.
