Chattanooga Drivers, Please, Please Slow Down

  • Tuesday, October 16, 2018
It is heart wrenching to see all of these automobile accident deaths in Chattanooga. Two weeks ago six people lost their lives. Last week two lost their lives and now this week we have already had four deaths on our highways.

The major factor in these accidents is speed. The faster you go the less time you have to react to a situation on the roadway. Plus the faster the speed the more forceful the crash.

Also distracted driving plays a major role in many of these wrecks.

Also many of these accidents are caused by vehicles following too close to the vehicle in front of us.  One of the recent deaths was a rear-end accident.

In many of these accidents the combination of speed, distraction and following too close have serious or deadly consequences.

Drivers please, please slow down; stay back and pay attention.

Recent statics show that Tennessee has the second worst drivers in the United States.
I believe that a lot of this is because we do not have statewide Drivers Education. Many people now that are approximately 50 years of age have never had classroom driver's training and do not know all of the rules of the road. I do wish our State Legislature would take another look at this.
