Chattanooga State Medical Programs "Hit The Mark"

  • Tuesday, October 9, 2018

Chattanooga State Community College's Registered Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Physical Therapist Assistant, Dental Hygiene, Nuclear Medicine Technology, and Diagnostic Medical Sonography program graduates from 2017 and/or 2018 scored a 100 percent pass rate on national licensure and certification; however, not all 2018 results were reported at time of print. “Much of the student success is due to the high-quality faculty and outstanding community partners with which we are fortunate to work,” states Nursing & Allied Health Dean Dr. Mark Knutsen.

"Chattanooga State Community College prides itself by offering top-notch medical programs that prepare students for immediate employment in the greater Chattanooga and surrounding areas," officials said.  "One of the best ways to measure the health of a medical program is by the licensure pass rate of its graduates. When students graduate from an approved, accredited program, they become eligible to sit for their program’s licensing exam, ensuring that they are clinically competent to safely practice their field."

In addition, graduates from the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Surgical Technology
diploma program also scored a 100 percent pass rate. “The number of Surgical Techs is
expected to increase 15 percent through 2024. The average wage for Surgical Techs in 2016
was $45,160 as compared to the $37,040 median wage for all occupations. This information
was listed the Surgical Technologist magazine,” said Judy Kitson, director of TCAT Medial
Programs.
