Delia Young
Delia Eloise Young, affectionately known as “Lucky”, was born December 31, 1949 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Delia M. Young and the late Arnold Jackson Young. Surrounded by loved ones, she entered into rest on Sunday, January 28, 2018.
Educated in Hamilton County Public Schools, Delia graduated from Riverside High School.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arnold Jackson Young; her brothers, John Adam Young and Timothy McPherson; her great granddaughter, Ja’Rodyah Gilbert; and her granddaughter, Micaela Gilbert.
Her memory will be cherished by her beloved mother, Delia McPherson Young, devoted daughter, Delia Branham (Tyrone); her sons, Samuel Gilbert; Darvun Watson, Sr. (Monica); and Chancy Reynolds (Shasta Vance); brothers, Joe Thomas (Linda), Joe Young (Shelia); David Young, Sr.; Calvin Young (Debra); Thomas Young (Brenda), and Roderick Young (April); sisters, Chan Afi, Sylvia Davis, Harriett Loretta Armstrong, Veronica Dunson (Napoleon), and Reba Wardlaw (Craig); grandchildren, Joshua Earls, Lanesha Gilbert, DeAndre Hunter, Samuel Gilbert, Makyah Reynolds, Darvun Watson Jr., James Watson, Kambriah Reynolds, Daronica Watson, and Carrington Reynolds; great grandchildren, Karmen Earls, Ja'Marion Earls, Ja’Miyah Gilbert, Ja'cayla Earls, and Audriana Owens; two loving god children, Mallarie Jackson and Joe Young, Jr.; devoted cousins, Sylvester Wright and Willie Applings; as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends, and loved ones.
The body will lie in state from 12-8:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, at the funeral home, and the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, Feb. 3, at Olivet Baptist Church with Pastor Gerald Penn officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
