Childers, Barbara M. Goodman

Barbara M. Childers, 82, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 12, 2018.  She was a native of Sweetwater, Tn. and daughter of the late Marion Lee and Irene Goins Goodman.  Mrs. Childers was the owner and operator of Lake Hills Beauty Shop for 19 years and operated the beauty salon at Life Care of Collegedale for 10 years.  She served in the Chattanooga prison ministries, ministering to women at Silverdale for more than 35 years.  Barbara was a member of Abba’s House for more than 20 years.  She had a true servant’s heart and love for missions and prayer. 

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert Childers Sr.

Survivors include son, Dr. Chas (Nancy) Childers, Atlanta; daughters, Deborah (Jeff) Childers Baker, Collegedale and Gaylene (Edward) Childers Cobb, Jasper, Tn.; sister, Beatrice Putnam, Chickamauga; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel, with Dr. Ron Phillips Sr. and Dr. Ron Phillips Jr. officiating.  Interment will be in Anderson Memorial Gardens.
