The pastor and men of Second Missionary Baptist Church invite Chattanooga and surrounding community to attend the 73rd Annual Men’s Day this Sunday at 10:45 a.m., following Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and the 8 a.m. morning service.

The guest speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Ken L. Ellis, pastor of Northeast Community Church of Norcross, Ga.  "Dr. Ellis is a preacher and a teacher who takes seriously the mandate from Jesus Christ 'to go and make disciples,'" officials said.

In addition to his pastorate, Dr. Ellis serves as the clinical chaplain at Phillips State Prison, Georgia Department of Corrections and as an associate professor of Christian Ministry for New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Dr. Ellis has served on various committees and study groups dealing with cultural diversity issues, criminal justice and men’s ministries.  His tenure includes serving as team leader of People Group Evangelism, North American Mission Board; senior chaplain, Federal Bureau of Prisons and minister of education at Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church, Chicago, Il.  He is a member of the Georgia Governor’s Office of Transition and Reentry.

Inspirational music for men’s day will be provided by guest vocalist Curtis Drake, Jr., from Olivet Baptist Church and by the special men’s day choir, under the direction of music coordinator Paula Coleman.

"The men of Second look forward to seeing you, your family and friends, joining in celebration of 'Staying True to God’s Word,' using Matthew 7:24, while donning a traditional black and white color theme," officials said.

Deacon George Watkins is chairman of the celebration.  Rev. Dr. Ernest L. Reid, Jr. is pastor of Second and will bring the 8 a.m. Hour of Power message.  The church is located in Chattanooga at 2305 E. Third St.  For more information call the church office at 423-624-9097.
