Berta Hawkins Brown, age 90, of Signal Mountain, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018.

Berta was born, raised and lived all her life on Signal Mountain.  She retired from the United States Postal Service with over 20 years of service.  Berta was a member of Wayside Presbyterian Church and she enjoyed quilting and crocheting.   

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Brown; and her parents, Carl and Mary Hawkins; three brothers and one sister.

Berta is survived by her children, James “Jim” Brown, Robert “Bobby” (Terry) Brown, Joe (Nora) Brown and Debbie Brown; six grandchildren, Jason (Haley), Angie (J.D.), Joe, Jr. (Suzanne), Joshua, Justin and Gene; three great-grandchildren, Ben, Holden, and Max; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. 

The family would like to express their appreciation to Hospice of Chattanooga and members of Wayside Presbyterian Church for their love and support during this time.    

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 23, and 11 to 1 on Saturday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life Service for Berta will follow at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the North Chapel with Elders Hunter Swink and Larry Mick officiating.  Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
