Cleveland State Basketball Advances To Semifinals

Cleveland State Basketball defeated #3 Chattanooga State in their opening round match of the TCCAA Region VII Tournament by a score of 86-78.

Leading the Cougars in this one was Tevin Olison who went off for a season-high 38 points. Olison also snagged 4 steals. Sophomore point guard Cam Copeland contributed 13 points and also dished out 5 assists.

Victor Curry also finished with 13 points while grabbing 8 rebounds. The Cougars shot 49% from the field and 42% from the arc while also shooting a 71% from the free throw line. At the half, this game was a close one with the score sitting at 35-34 in favor of Chattanooga State. The Cougars came out in the 2nd half, outscoring the Tigers 52-43 to deliver an 86-78 final score and a berth in the semifinal round. 

The Cougars will be taking on #2 Motlow State in the semifinals. Cleveland State lost both of their matchups against Motlow State during the regular season and will look to change that narrative in Monday's matchup. The Cougars semifinal game will take place at Chattanooga State's gymnasium on Monday, March 5, at 4 p.m.
