Robert McGee
Robert (Bob/Bobby) Paul McGee died on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at his home in Cleveland, Tennessee, surrounded by his loving family and friends.  He was 65.

Bob was born Sept. 26, 1952, to Earl and Eleanor Passig McGee in Berea, Ohio.  His family moved to Cleveland in 1954.  He attended Cleveland City Schools, graduating from Cleveland High School in 1970.  In high school he was involved with many service and honor organizations and his special interest in golf began.

He received a BS degree in business from UT-Chattanooga in 1974 and later an MBA degree in 1976.  During his years at UTC and after graduating, Bob was an active and loyal member of the Delta Theta Chapter of Sigma Chi serving as treasurer and an alumni advisor.  He was an avid supporter of all UTC athletics, particularly football and basketball, and continued his hobby of golf.

Bob worked for the City of Chattanooga for 38 years and retired in 2013 as a budget analyst for the Department of Public Works.

He had a special love for The Honors Golf Course in Ooltewah, TN.  He formed cherished relationships there with his co-workers as well as club members and special tournament players who sought his caddying skills.  He enjoyed working there as a caddy for many years until his ALS diagnosis prevented his participation.

Bob is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Deborah Sanford McGee whom he married on July 31, 2015; his brother and sister-in-law, E. Alan McGee and Linda of Milledgeville, GA; his sister and brother-in-law Marilyn M. and Dr. James Gray of Cookeville, TN.  Also, niece and nephews, Janet Gray Coonce (Daniel) of Cookeville; and J. Christopher Gray (Melinda) of Redmond, WA; and Matthew A. McGee of Milledgeville.  He had four great nieces and nephews, Emily and Sarah Coonce of Cookeville, Logan and Abby Gray of Redmond.  He is also survived by cousins Ted, Doug, Scott and Ken Passig and Fredrick Wack and Carol Ann Wack Lewis.

Other family members include: Candace and James Whisman, Dennis and Rochelle Duggins, Karen and James Durham, Charles and Sharon Good of Jonesborough, Darrell Bilbrey of Jonesborough and Rebecca Wilkins. Grandchildren are Hunter and Ellie Duggins and Ashton Anderson.

Special thanks to Janice Williams and the caregivers from Family Home Care for their care and compassion.

A gathering of friends will be at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home on Thursday, April 19, from 3-5 p.m. A celebration of life service will begin at 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ALS Clinic at Erlanger Attn: Dr. Joshua Alpers/Monica Bailey, 979 E. Third Street Suite C-830, Chattanooga, Tn. 37403 or the Ronald McDonald House, 200 Central Avenue, Chattanooga, Tn. 37403.
