Chris Gobble joins the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce as senior director of Public Policy this week. Mr. Gobble will lead the chamber’s government affairs efforts both locally and in Nashville.

“Chris will be an excellent liaison and champion for our members as we continue to be the voice of local business in the policy arena and a dynamic partner in the policy-making process,” said Christy Gillenwater, Chattanooga Chamber president and CEO.

“Chris brings substantial legislative and policy experience to this role and we’re excited to have him on board.”

Mr. Gobble previously served as the legislative and policy director for the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security. He spent the previous five years working with Governor Bill Haslam’s office and the State Legislature. As the director of Legislation and Policy, Mr. Gobble worked to develop strategic legislative and policy plans.

Mr. Gobble will work directly with Hamilton County’s delegation and the governor’s office to advance Chattanooga’s status as a leader in education, entrepreneurship, talent strategies and economic development. He will also increase the Chattanooga Chamber’s footprint in Nashville to effectively advocate for the interests of Chamber members. Another important role for Gobble will involve advancing the Chamber’s legislative agenda by working with city and county officials to ensure our continued forward progress as a community.

“I’m honored to take on the role of senior director of Public Policy,” Mr. Gobble said. “I look forward to using my experience to advance the business interests in the region I call home. Chattanooga’s business community makes it a great place to live and I’m ready to get to work.”

Mr. Gobble, originally from Bradley County, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lipscomb University.
