Man Rescued From Pocket Wilderness After Hiking Injury

A man was rescued on Saturday at the Pocket Wilderness at the foot of Mowbray Mountain on Saturda.

Rescue personnel reported a man was hiking in the woods, slipped and fell and sustained an ankle injury.

At 4:30 p.m., the injured man was able to text his wife and inform her of his accident and to call 911 for help.

Due to the steep and rocky terrain, a Mutual Aid response was requested to help assist Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department personnel carry him out of the woods.

The Sequoyah VFD, Dallas Bay VFD, Soddy Daisy FD, Hamilton Co. Marine Rescue and TN State Parks responded to the scene.

At 6 p.m., the victim was transported by HCEMS to a local hospital for treatment.
