After a story appeared recently on a 1930 Chattanooga map drawn by the late local artist Frank Baisden, one reader sent the accompanying photo of a map of recent decades of Moccasin Bend with an unusual feature.

Located along the Tennessee River just west of where Manufacturers Road, Riverside Avenue and Pineville/Moccasin Bend roads merge is a race track.

It is not known if it was some kind of horse track, or a track related to automobile racing.

That part of Moccasin Bend, which was farmland for decades, appears to be located in an area today defined as the Moccasin Bend National Archaeological District.
