Reed, Buddy Lee

Buddy Lee Reed, 69 of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018. He had lived in the Chattanooga area for most of his life and was of the Baptist faith. He was a supervisor at Vulcan for more than 10 years and he enjoyed fishing, going out to eat, playing softball, bowling and spending time at the beach. His first priority in life was putting his family’s needs above anything else and, of course, watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a loving and devoted brother, husband, father and grandfather, who will be truly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Thelma Reed; wife, Diane Reed; brothers, Floyd (Son) Reed Jr. and Wayne Reed; and sisters, JoAnn People, Sue Cope, Jerald Hendricks, Cathy Philips and Hattie Farris.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Whitney (Robert) Roden, Lindsay (Brandon) Oglesby, Jennifer (Joe) Cross and Cindy Ingram; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe (Lori) Reed, Larry Reed and Archie (Brenda) Reed; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria (David) Cobb, Tammy (Karl) Lee, Kim (Joe) Foster and Billie Joe Compton; grandchildren, Rylee and Sydnee Roden, Addison and Kinlee Cross, Landon and Lila Oglesby; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel, with Rev. Lavonne Powel officiating. Michael West, Terry Howell, Mark Cope, Austin Cope, Daniel Hendricks and Clay Allen will be serving as pallbearers. Michael Duke will be serving as honorary pallbearer. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-8 p.m. on Monday and prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
