Pinkston's Office Seeking The Death Penalty Against Trio Charged In Murder Of State Witness Bianca Horton

  • Tuesday, August 14, 2018

The office of District Attorney Neal Pinkston is seeking the death penalty against three men charged in the murder of state witness Bianca Horton.

The intent to seek the death penalty was filed against Andre Grier, Courtney High and Charles Shelton.

They were among 42 alleged members of the Athens Park Bloods gang charged in a state RICO action.

Ms. Horton was gunned down on May 25, 2016. She had been set to testify against Cortez Sims at his trial for shooting her, killing her friend Talitha Bowman, shooting Marcell Christopher and leaving her daughter paralyzed with a gunshot.

Sims was eventually convicted of murder and attempted murder without her testimony.

Sims is among those charged in the conspiracy.

High is also accused of murdering Jerica Jackson and Marquise Jackson.

The motions seeking the death penalty say the crime was especially heinous and that it was carried out to prevent lawful prosecution of another person.
