U.S. Air Force Veteran Retired From Western Union

Edward Oliver Pomeroy, Jr., 89 of Decatur, Georgia, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2018 at Dekalb Medical Hillandale.

 

Mr. Pomeroy was born July 1, 1929, in Chattanooga, to Edward Oliver Pomeroy, Sr. and Lucille Delzell Pomeroy. He began his military service having first served in the United States Marine Corp and later serving in the United States Air Force. He was retired from Western Union and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of Walnut Grove Masonic Lodge #703, where he earned his 65th Year Apron for his membership.

 

Mr. Pomeroy was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Alicia Pomeroy Timmons and his brother, Bill Pomeroy.

 

Mr. Pomeroy is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Imogene H. Pomeroy; son, Edward Gregory Pomeroy; son, Tim A. Pomeroy; one grandson, three granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.

 

A memorial service with military honors will be held in Chattanooga National Cemetery on Monday, Aug. 20, at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor James Jullian of Spring Creek Road Baptist Church in East Ridge, officiating.
