UTC Colin Brewer Named To Peter Hortell Holder Of The Year Watch List

  • Thursday, August 16, 2018
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga junior Colin Brewer has earned a spot on the Peter Mortell Holder of the Year Award Watch List.  The Peter Mortell Holder of the Year Award (or HOTY) is a tongue-in-cheek, informal award given to the top holder in college football in the United States.

The Mortell HOTY Award was created in 2015 by its first recipient, Peter Mortell, a punter in his senior year at the University of Minnesota.  Each year's finalists and winner are selected by the HOTY Foundation.

For the winner, the Foundation helps raise money for a charity of his choosing.  As the inaugural recipient, Peter raised approximately $30,000 for the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital.

Other winners and their charities include Michigan's Garrett Moores (2016 – VA of Ann Arbor) and Oklahoma's Connor McGinnis (2017 – Fields & Futures Foundation).  Brewer is the only FCS representative on this year's watch list.

The comedic nature of the award has garnered national attention as each winner records an acceptance video which is shown during ESPN's College Football Awards Show.

Brewer has handled the punting and holding duties for the Mocs each of the last two seasons.  He has a 40.2 career average and has made the SoCon Honor Roll three times.

Season tickets are still on sale for the 2018 campaign.  Alumni and Family sections are both available for $45 at the 'Tickets' tab at the top of the page, or call (423) 266-MOCS (6627).
