Warner Park Pool Opens For Dogs

  • Tuesday, August 21, 2018

McKamey Animal Center invites the community and their four legged family members to enjoy an afternoon at the pool for the Doggie Paddle Pool Party presented by Off Leash K9 Training - Chattanooga. The event is scheduled for Sept. 8 at the Warner Park Pool, 1254 E 3rd St. from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Tickets are $20 per dog ($10 per additional dog), or $15 per dog by preregistering before the event online at McKameyAnimalCenter.org or at McKamey Animal Center at 4500 N Access Road. Humans are free.

This is the 10th year that the Warner Park Pool has allowed dogs to take over before closing for the season.

“Every year the event grows,” said Executive Director Jamie McAloon. “We see a lot of repeat participants and of course some first timers.”

Ms. McAloon says they are expecting over 200 dogs to attend this year’s Doggie Dip Pool Party, an increase from last year’s event.

“It truly is a fun event,” said Ms. McAloon. “Both dogs and humans are having the time of their life; you can see it from one end of the pool to the other.”

With two pools available to explore, one of which is Olympic sized, dogs of all breeds have plenty of room to splash. Along with a few other guidelines, McKamey asks that all dogs be kept on a leash while not in the pool for the safety of the participants.

The summer season offers no relief for animal shelters, and McKamey is no exception. With back to school in full swing, often times pets are surrendered in exchange for a new lifestyle. McKamey is working around the clock to continue to ensure a safe community for both dogs and humans. Events such as the Doggie Dip Pool Party raise funds to provide animals with shelter, veterinary care, and connecting them to their forever homes.
