Eleanor Joyce Hardin McDougald, 93, died on January 18, 2019.

She attended George Peabody College and worked at Southern Bell Telephone Company a short time until her marriage.

She had been active in Women on Mission, Cross Team, Church Care, and the Ruth Sunday School class of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Maude Hardin, her sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Paul Rutledge, husband, Mac, close friend for over 60 years, Juanita Ledford, and also her little dog Peppy, faithful companion for 14 years and the the love of her life.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Man Shot Early Sunday Morning In Alton Park

A man was shot in Alton Park early Sunday morning. It happened just before 2 a.m. in the 200 block of West 38th Street. The victim's injuries were not life-threatening. Man Found Dead In McMinn County After Going After Woman Who Had Used Meth, Then Wandered Into Water

A man was found dead in McMinn County early Sunday morning in water near his home. Authorities said a woman who was doing meth at the residence on County Road 788 first wandered out into the water. The man then went out after her. He was later found unresponsive. The woman was rescued from the water and taken to a hospital to be checked out. (click for more)
