Chuck Elrod
Charles “Chuck” Vollie Elrod, Jr., 81, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019.
Mr. Elrod was born in Chattanooga on Aug. 20, 1938. Chuck was of the Baptist faith and a graduate of Lee University where he earned a degree in Psychology. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Alhambra Shrine and was a Vietnam War veteran. Chuck was retired from the U.S. Army as a 1st Sergeant, retired from the State of Alaska and later worked for the U.S. Post Office in Chattanooga and retired from the State of Tennessee. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Elrod, Sr.; mother, Lillian Roberts; daughter, Cindy Denise Elrod; sister, Linda Stewart and brother, Jimmy Elrod.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Barbara Elrod; son, Charles “Chuck” V. (Carolyn) Elrod, III; grandchildren, Charles “Chuck” V. Elrod, IV, Melissa J. Elrod and Dallas S. Elrod, all of Cleveland; four great-grandchildren; brother, Bobby (Martha) Elrod of Chickamauga; sisters, Juanita Reed of Hixson, and Wanda Smith of Soddy Daisy; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, at the funeral home with Reverend Johnny Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, at the funeral home.
