Thaddeus Eugene Paris Reid, Sr., 94, of Chattanooga, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, December 12, 2019, at his residence.  

 

He was a graduate of Brooker T. Washington High School.  Thaddeus was a veteran of the Air Force and served in World War II.   He was employed by Southern Chemical Cotton for 20 years and later retired from the Electric Power Board after 22 years of service. On October 27, 1950, he married Jimmie Clay.  Thaddeus loved fishing, watching BBC News, politics, and his favorite scraping booking.  

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vienna Pankey, and Earl Paris; grandparents, Fletcher Reid, Mary Pankey Reid, Adeline Spears, Nancy Clay, Ose Reid, John Pankey, West Reid, Oscar Paris; cousin, Francis Paris; wife of 60 years, Jimmie Reid.  

 

Survivors include five children, Michael (Sylvia), Sharron (Nathaniel), Avis (Roy), Crystal, and Thaddeus (Karen) Jr.; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; cousin, Gladys Paris; several other relatives and friends.  

 

Funeral service will be on Thursday, Dec. 19, at 9 a.m. in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Elder Richard Clay as the eulogist.  

 

Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
