Mrs. Elnora Thomas Burke, 76, fell asleep in death on Wednesday, December 4, 2019.
She was a devout Witness of Jehovah, a publisher of Jehovah’s Kingdom since 1964, presently with the Tyner Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and a 1961 graduate of Howard High School; retiree of T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital Nursing Department. She also worked previously with Erlanger Hospital, Parkridge Hospital, and Kelly Home Health Care Services during her secular service to mankind.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Farley Burke, Sr.; son, Alton F. Burke, Jr.; parents, Solomon Thomas, Sr. and Lizzie Mae Gantt Thomas; brothers, Richard Lee Thomas and Solomon Thomas, Jr.; sisters, Lilly Mae Thomas, Daisy L. Thomas Marble, Louise T. Mapp; niece, Terri J. Marble Garrison.
She is survived by sisters, Luvenia Talley and Jeanette Thomas; devoted nieces, Luvenia (Tony) Taylor, Kimberly Bailey, Karen Diane Mapp Scott; devoted nephews, Tony Taylor, Reginald D. Knight, Jr.; four great-nieces, one great-nephew, seventeen great-great nieces and nephews, many cousins and friends, and a large spiritual family.
She will be laid to rest at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
