Robert Clair (RC) Wood, 87, returned to his heavenly home on February 13, 2019. His devotion to his family and his love for Christ supported him and gave him peace.
RC was born on Sept. 28, 1931, to the late Charles and Mae Wood. He was immersed in the Christian community that would be his lifelong support from an early age.
RC was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend, Mary Duncan, on July 1, 1955 in Talladega, Al. RC helped raise his two children with patience, discipline and humility. From Talladega to Chattanooga, his faith and love for family followed him every step of the way. He was dedicated to God, his loving wife, and his children. He was an encourager and helper to both his and God’s family.
RC was an educator at heart. He was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
RC is survived by his wife, Mary; his son Mike; his daughter Paula (Keith); his grandchildren Natalie Owen (Blake), Ryan Wood (Heather), Lydia Hall, Alivia Hall; great-grandchildren Lilly, Maggie, and Mary Claire Owen and Cohen Wood; and brother, Charles Wood. He is preceded in death by his brother, Frank Wood and his parents Charles and Mae.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Franks and Pastor Garrett Reagan officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.
