Baylor Soccer Wins Invitational

The Baylor boys soccer team won their invitational tournament this weekend with two wins on Saturday.  

In the semifinals Baylor beat Signal Mountain 2-1 behind goals from Christian Stophel and Ethan Nunes.   Baylor lead 2-0 at the half.   Signal Mountain's George Coogan scored a second half goal for the Eagles.   

"I thought we did a great job of starting fast and we have been talking about this all weekend,:  Baylor head coach Curtis Blair said.  :We struggled in the second half to get any rhythm. You have to give credit to Coach Northcutt and Signal Mountain for disrupting the rhythm. We did not do a good job of moving the ball. We got caught dribbling way to much."

Baylor out shot Signal 7-3.  Charlie Hooks had two saves for Baylor and Joseph Galea had five for Signal Mountain. 
 
In the finals, Baylor beat Bob Jones 2-1.  David Danquah scored in the first half off an assist from Ethan Nunes.   Christian Stophel scored the second goal for Baylor off an assist from Andrew Hill.  Baylor led 2-0 at the half.  

The second half go interesting when Baylor keeper Charlie Hooks got a yellow card and Bob Jones earned a penalty kick.  Nathan Webb come in for Baylor in the goal and made two saves on the PK.

Bob Jones' Justin Alcentra scored their second half goal in the 70th minute.  
 
  "I am really proud of our guys this weekend," Blair said.  "We beat a very good Bob Jones team in the finals. I think we did a great job of finding a way to win. We played 5 game this week and 3 games in 24 hour period. Our guys just found a way to grind it out."

Baylor out shot Bob Jones 11-9.

Hooks finished with three saves and Nathan Webb had 1.
