Sequatchie County High School Wins 2nd Consecutive District 7-AA Softball Tournament Championship

Sequatchie County High School won their second consecutive District 7-AA softball tournament championship Tuesday, defeating rival Marion County 4-0. The Lady Indians scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, then added a run in both the third and fifth. 

Sophomore catcher Jesyca Dennis was 3-3 batting with two RBI. Freshman outfielder Addy Edgmon, a UT-Chattanooga commitment, hit 2-3 for the day with three runs and walk.
The Lady Indians totaled nine hits. 


Junior pitcher MacKenzie Turner, one of the state leaders in strikeouts, added 11 to her season total in the shutout. She allowed three hits and walked one batter. Turner has allowed five runs in 11 regular season and tournament games against district opponents. 

Sequatchie County is scheduled to host the District 8-AA runner up on May 13. Marion will travel to the District 8-AA champion on the same date. Monday's winners play Wednesday in the region final and also advance to sectional play.
