  • Thursday, July 25, 2019

A 15-year-old girl who was in a rafting accident on the Ocoee River on Sunday has died.

A web page says the family had the difficult decision of taking the 15-year-old off life support.

She was with a church group from Leesburg, Fla.

A witness said the girl fell off a raft, then her leg got tangled in a  rope that was thrown to her by a rafting guide.

She also lost her life jacket, and it was several minutes before she could be lifted from the surging river.

Efforts were made to revive her after she was pulled from the river, then she was airlifted to Children's Hospital.

It is the fourth drowning on the Ocoee this year.
