A man died after he was thrown out of a Jeep Wrangle on the Highway 153 ramp onto the shoulder of I-75 southbound on Tuesday evening. The victim was identified as Timothy Holder, 49.
At approximately 6:22 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a fatal traffic crash at 0.2 Highway 153 South. The CPD Traffic/DUI Unit was notified and responded.
Police said the Jeep was traveling on the Highway 153 South ramp to Interstate 75 South negotiating a right curve.
The vehicle left the lane of travel to the left and struck the wall.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle and fell onto the freeway shoulder below. The Jeep continued down the ramp driverless, crossed both lanes of traffic, and came to rest on the right wall. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The driver was not wearing his seat belt.
Hamilton County EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the driver deceased at the scene.
