John Emory Sawyer, 74, Dies After Officer-Involved Shooting In Soddy Daisy Thursday Night

John Emory Sawyer III, 74, is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Soddy Daisy Thursday night. 

At approximately 10 p.m., Soddy Daisy Police Officers were dispatched to the 300 Block of Harvest Court in Soddy Daisy on a report of a domestic disorder.  During the course of investigating the complaint, Soddy Daisy Police Officers confronted the alleged suspect, who was armed with a weapon. 

The Hamilton County District Attorney’s Office has directed the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office to conduct an investigation into the shooting.

According to Soddy Daisy Police Chief Gann, three Soddy Daisy officers have been placed on administrative leave which is in accordance with Soddy Daisy Police policy.

This is an ongoing investigation at the direction of the HCDE, therefore, no additional information will be released at this time.
