Funeral Is Monday For Ooltewah Man Who Was Killed In His Front Yard

The funeral service will be Monday for an Ooltewah man who was shot and killed in his front yard on Tuesday.

Patrick Alan Godwin was 57.

The Sheriff's Office said he was shot near his car soon after arriving home. It is believed that he was targeted.

Mr. Godwin leaves his wife, Jenna Godwin, and three daughters, Victoria Godwin of Memphis, and Kendall and Delaney Godwin of Ooltewah.

Other survivors include his mother, Joyce Coulter of Ringgold; brothers, Tim (Lisa) Godwin of Jasper, Tn., and Greg Godwin of Panama City Beach, Fla.

He was born Jan. 9, 1962, in Chattanooga.

Mr. Godwin was a 1980 graduate of Lookout Valley High School.  He was a master hair stylist and was also employed at Crown Automotive. He was described as "a devoted father who enjoyed baking, playing the piano, and watching football."

His father, James Lloyd Godwin, preceded him in death. 

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

A funeral mass will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 7111 Lee Highway, with Father Christopher Manning officiating.   A reception will follow.

Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
