The Covenant women's basketball team fell to Huntingdon, 78-46, on Friday night from Roland Arena.
Ruthie Moore came close to a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds to go with three assists, two blocks, and a steal. Hannah Monday rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 as Margo Koby, Riley Wagaman, and Michaela Price pitched in with six points each.
The Scots fall to 5-10 overall and 2-4 in USA South play. Huntingdon improves to 8-9 on the year and 7-1 in conference action.
Covenant scored the first bucket of the game off a Koby jumper in the opening minute of the contest.
The Hawks answered with a 14-2 run over the next five minutes and wrapped up the quarter with an 18-9 advantage.
The Hawks then used a 12-4 stretch to open up the second frame and extend their lead to 17. Koby made a jumper to wrap up the first-half scoring with 28 seconds to go as Huntingdon led 43-21 at the break.
Out of the intermission, the Scots struggled to get anything going offensively as Huntingdon outscored the Scots 22-8 in the third quarter.
Covenant answered in the fourth outscoring the Hawks 17-13 to make the final 78-46.
Shaonica Thomas was the only Huntingdon player with 10 points. Thomas and Sidney Ison paced the team with eight boards as Thomas led all players with five assists. Ry Whetstone and Kelcie Smith led the hosts with steals each.
Huntingdon shot 38.4 percent (28-for-73) from the floor and 7-for-25 (28 percent) from 3-point range. The Hawks went 15-of-19 (78.9 percent) from the free-throw line.
The Scots went 19-for-49 (38.8 percent) overall and 5-for-15 (33.3 percent) from distance. Covenant went 3-for-6 (50 percent) from the charity stripe.
The Scots continue their road trip as they travel to Decatur, Ga., to take on Agnes Scott on Saturday.
