Shirley Dean Neal, 75, of LaFayette, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.

Shirley was a 1963 graduate of LaFayette High School.  She then retired after 45 years with the Walker County Tax Assessors office where she presently served on the Walker County Board of Tax Assessors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Shannon W. Stephenson and Annie Grace Stephenson; sister, Barbara Byrd; brother, Gary Stephenson; and nephews, Brent and Jerry Byrd.

She is survived by her loving husband “to the prettiest woman he had ever met” for 52 years, Michael Neal; daughter, Shanna (Jon) Hartline; grandchildren, Jarrett and Bryar Hartline; brother, Tim Stephenson; and nephews, Byron Keith Byrd, Monti Kyle, Andy Neal, and James Buffington; Shirley’s loving friends group of the class of 1963 also survive.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jim Powell officiating.

Interment will be at McIntyre Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday at the funeral home prior to the service after 9 a.m.

Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
