A Very Good Meal And An Honest Man At Mezcla Cocina Y Cantina

Wednesday, November 18, 2020 - by Jay Prater

We decided to visit Mezcla Cocina Y Cantina at the suggestion of a friend. First time patrons and left very satisfied with the freshness of the food and the exceptional service. Had so much fun that I hastily headed out the door after paying and tipping our most generous and attentive waiter.

Hours later, I realized I left my wallet at the restaurant – by that time, they had closed……

These days, most people can use a bit more cash in their pockets.

Yes, I had cash in my wallet and when realizing I did not have my wallet, that panic feeling sinks in and then at the same time realize cards, license, etc., etc., can be replaced, but not cash and no way to trace it.

So, next morning, after waiting for the restaurant to open, I can only pace the floor. I called them before they officially opened and, after asking if a wallet had been found, I was given a “yes”. In a matter of minutes, I was arriving at the front door. I quickly dashed in and immediately opened the wallet.

Satisfaction!

All the contents were exactly as left.

Just recognizing two items here….

1.       Food was very good and fresh

2.       A most thankful and grateful Thank You to an honest man!

Thank You Chris – Go visit Mezcla and ask for Chris to wait on you. A most excellent waiter with an honest soul, in my opinion.

I am thankful for the reminder of what honesty can really mean.

Mezcla Cocina Y Cantina is located at 2 Cherokee Blvd. in North Chattanooga.

County Employees Need A Bonus Too

A few weeks ago we learned that Sheriff Jim Hammond was asking for a second raise. Earlier this year Hamilton County employees were notified that "due to COVID-19" there would be no raises for employees of any kind this year. I guess Mr. Hammond didnt get that memo about no raises. Why is it that some employees will be getting a raise and others are not? That doesn't really ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: Why I Am Thankful

For the life of me, I can’t remember when it started but back in the ‘70s, I began devoting my sports column on Thanksgiving Day to off-the-wall stuff of which I was truly and genuinely thankful. Back then I would go to from “76 reasons”, then “77 Reasons”, and then “78 reasons” with every new year. We climbed through 80’s, and the 90’s and it became a tradition. By then it had ...
