Lillie Mae Childers

Lillie Mae Childers, age 88, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Monday, May 25, 2020 at the home of her daughter surrounded by her loving family.

Lillie Mae was born Oct. 6, 1931 in Dalton. She was preceded in death by loving husband of 44 years, Howard Childers, Jr., who died Feb. 26, 2002; her father, Howard Mitchell Clark; her mother and step-father, Minnie Irene Staten Clark and Emerson Barrett; brothers, C. M. “Thomas” Clark and George Clark; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Howard and Katie Morris Childers, Sr.

Lillie Mae worked for over 18 years at Belcraft and over 14 years at Beaulieu of America.  She was a longtime member of Welcome Hill Baptist Church.

Lillie Mae was a godly mother who influenced her daughters, grandchildren, and all who knew her.  She was known at her church as the cake lady and made the best fried apple pies and coconut cakes, her clean yard and the fact that one never left her home hungry.

The family would like to recognize Amedisys Hospice for the special care they extended to our Mother during her last days.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Lillie Mae Childers will be held Saturday, May 30, at 1 p.m. at Welcome Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Bruce Beach and Reverend Travis Martin officiating.  She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Randall Dempsey, Brandon Dempsey, Braxton Hawkins, Garrett Hawkins, Beau Hawkins and Gary Clark proudly serving as pallbearers.
