Virginia Hauser Long died on Friday, July 10, 2020, in a local nursing home.  She was 95. 

Born and raised during the Nebraska “Dustbowl”, her family later relocated to Colorado.  After graduating from high school, Virginia moved to Knoxville where she attended Knoxville Business College and was later employed by TVA. While at TVA, she met and married her husband.

Virginia was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church for over 65 years and co-founded the United Methodist Women’s Love Circle. She was active for many years with the Girl Scouts of America, a member of the TVA Retirees’ Association and a BVI volunteer.

She was a devoted wife and mother. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Henry “Huey” S. Long, Sr.

She is survived by her children: Ginger Hoffman (Wayne) and Paul E. Long of Chattanooga, Henry S. Long, Jr (Jacquie)., Birmingham Al., and Glen A. Long (Colleen), Greensboro NC.; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

A private graveside service for immediate family will be held in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
