James Moon
James Austin Moon, 75, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at NHC HealthCare of Athens.
He attended Cottonport Road Church of God, and retired from Combustion Engineering with 30 years service, and had worked at Meigs County Sheriff's Office for 10 years.
He was a son of the late James Jacob Moon, Jr and Lillian (Fred) Rowland and was preceded in death by his son, Mike Moon, and his sister, Brenda Finnell.
Mr. Moon leaves behind to cherish his memory: his beloved wife of 50 years, Judy Moon of Decatur; Sons: Tim Moon and Scott (Michelle) Moon of Georgetown; Brother: Bill Rowland of Calhoun, Tn.; Grandchildren: Kristen Stokes, Jacob Moon, Ashley Moon, Ally Moon, Hanna Roy, Tosha Meyers, and Makinley Moon; great-grandchildren; Maddux Mullins, Malia Stokes, Jace Moon, and Kayden Moon, several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowers Funeral Home with Pastor Kern Eschette officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodhope cemetery.
Family will receive friends on Saturday from 12-2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
