Eva Gray
Eva B. Gray, 93, of Soddy Daisy, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2020, in a local hospital.
Eva was born in Yugoslavia and moved to the United States in 1945. She worked for 32 years at Memorial Hospital and was affectionately known as “Smurfette.” Eva never missed a day of work and was honored with her very own parking space, even though she didn’t drive. She was a member of the Chattanooga First Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, playing Bingo, and spending time with her family.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Porter A. Gray; parents, Joseph and Anna Berberick; daughter, Rosie Cofer; granddaughter, Heather Brown; and grandson, Ronnie Keith.
Survivors include her children: Portia (Burney) McDowell, Porter L. Gray (Sara), Freddy (Anne) Gray, Tommy (Marsha) Gray, Jerry (Susan) Gray, Roger (Beverly) Gray, Linda (David) Clayton, Evie (Buster) Daniels, and Teresa Gray; 20 grandchildren; grand great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 8, at 11:30 a.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor Eric Johnson officiating with webcasting available on Lane’s website. A private interment will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
