Senior Anna Lanter scored her first career goal via a penalty kick in Sunday's big win over Shorter.
The Lee women's soccer team dominated from start to finish in a 5-0 dismantling of Shorter on Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Flames jumped on the board early on a goal by Ruth Edrington at the 5:32 mark. Freshman Tatum Miller made 2-0 in the 17th minute. The final of three first half goals would be off the right foot of Lauren Weimer.
The second half was more of the same as the Lady Flames outshot the Shorter Hawks, 29-4 and 20-1 in shots on goal. Lee held a 7-2 advantage on corner kicks.
Anna Lanter, an all-conference shutdown defender who has played four seasons for the Lady Flames, scored her first collegiate goal on a penalty kick in the 64th minute.
Riley Henry put the sprinkles on the ice cream with the final score in the final minute of the game. Jenna Garretson set things up and was credited with the assist.
Sophomore goalkeeper Mollie Wheeler got her first start in net for the Lady Flames on Sunday and kept the clean sheet as she recorded a save in the win. Emily Lopez tallied 15 saves in the loss for the Hawks.
The Lady Flames remain unbeaten in Pool B at 6-0-1 (3-0-1, GSC) and will wrap up the regular season on Friday at 4 p.m. as they travel to Montevallo to play the Falcons.
