Emma Lee “Granny” Powell, 91, of Rising Fawn, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Emma was born in Valley Head, Al. to the late Charlie “Doodle” & Ruby Wallin. She had lived in Cedar Bluff, Al. on Weiss Lake for some time, but spent most of her time in Rising Fawn. She was employed with DuPont and retired from Trenton Spinning Mill.
“Granny” was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lamar Powell; sisters, Pauline Bradford, Louise Wallace and Eloise Wallin; and her brothers, Roy, Clyde and Bob Wallin.
Survivors include her daughter, Melodie (Kenneth) Owens; sons, Michael (Sandy) Powell and Eddie Powell; granddaughters, Faith (Harold) Smith and Brittany Austin; grandson, Dustin (Jordan) Powell; great-granddaughters, Maleah and Ashlyn Smith; great-grandson, Wyatt Austin; and brothers, Hugh Don and Bill Wallin.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Dean Sims officiating. Interment will follow in Miller Cemetery, Rising Fawn.
