Upcoming Asphalt Rejuvenation
CDOT is introducing a new pavement management technique called asphalt rejuvenation to the more newly paved streets throughout the city.  Being completed by contract, rejuvenation involves an application of a coating that extends the life of newly paved streets.  Because the rejuvenator extends the life of paved surfaces, it means that the city can save money over time and have streets that retain their newer, high quality for longer before needing to be repaved again.  The application of the coating does require full access to streets and limited use by the general public for a short period of time so the city is notifying property owners, residents, and businesses in the affected areas of these upcoming short inconveniences while it performs this work.   This year the city is performing this work on several dozen of the streets that have been paved with a recent paving contract.

The following roads will see contract crews performing rejuvenation on Friday:
Covington Street, Gentry Road, Guild Trail, Patten Chapel Road, S Seminole Drive and W 47th Street

The following roads will see contract crews performing rejuvenation on Monday:
10th Avenue, E 32nd Street, Howard Circle, Blanchard Street, Elder Street, Marlboro Avenue, Menlo Street, N Choctaw Drive

The schedule of this project is subject to change if inclement weather takes place.

View CDOT's map of event and road closures for full details of these activities and other projects underway in the public space.

But while we all know the old adage that freedom is not free, neither is democracy. Our system depends on citizens’ being in ultimate control of the government through a written constitution with checks ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: That’s ‘Nonya’ Business

In the Sunday editions of the Chattanooga Times Free Press the editors will often include a feature on “fake news,” or “News That’s Not” but I don’t suspect them to include themselves in the junk report this weekend. The Chattanooga newspaper once again stumbled Thursday when they had an embarrassing lead story on the front page. The headline read, “DA accused of marrying employee, ... (click for more)
