Herman Ray Proffitt
Herman Ray Proffitt, 73, of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.
A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, he had resided in the Ringgold, Chattanooga area for the past 43 years.
Ray was a Veteran of the Air Force National Guard and was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church.
He was a retired employee of Krystal Company where he worked for 32 years and was an employee of Groome Transportation where he worked for 14 years.
Ray loved his grandchildren and was an avid Vols fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Neal and Benna Mae Brewer Proffitt.
He is survived by his loving wife, Hazel Phillips Proffitt of Ringgold, GA.; Son, Brian (Robin) Proffitt of Calhoun, GA.; daughter, Stacey (Philip) Lang of Lookout Mtn, TN.; sister, Cathy (Herman) Love of Knoxville, TN.; brothers, Steve (Barbara) Proffitt of Knoxville, TN., Ronnie (Krista) Proffitt of Manchester, TN., Jody (Paige) Proffitt of Mt. Pleasant, TN., and Ernie (Karen) Proffitt of Knoxville, TN.; four grandchildren, Sloan Proffitt, Sophia Proffitt, Philip Lang V, and Campbell Lang; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Joe Miller and Rev. Steve Rowland officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
