George R. Stuart Elementary School has been named a Capturing Kids’ Hearts National
Showcase School for 2021-2022. George R. Stuart Elementary School is the first Cleveland City
Schools’ elementary school to earn this distinction. Both Cleveland High School and Cleveland
Middle School received this honor last week.
"Capturing Kids’ Hearts, a Flippen Group program, focuses on building a positive culture by
connecting with students," officials said. "Capturing Kids' Hearts works to equip teachers, coaches,
administrators, and district leaders to implement transformational processes focused on
cultivating relational capacity, improving school culture, strengthening trust between teachers
and students, building self-managing classrooms, creating accountability, improving academic
performance and fostering trauma-informed care.
"The Capturing Kids' Hearts National Showcase Schools Award recognizes outstanding school
administrators, teaching staff and faculty for producing exemplary outcomes with Capturing
Kids’ Hearts processes. These schools have measurable outcomes in key performance criteria
such as increases in attendance, climate/culture and academic performance."
Dr. Russell Dyer, director of Cleveland City Schools, shared this about today’s announcement,
“It is a great honor for George R. Stuart Elementary to be recognized as a National Showcase
School by Capturing Kids’ Hearts. We are especially proud that they are our first elementary
school to receive this award. Congratulations to the faculty and staff of George R. Stuart
Elementary School.”
