Dalton State's Ben Rickett is once again a finalists for the Dave Williams Award presented by Golf Pride Grips. The Williams Award honors the national coach of the year in NAIA men's golf. Joining Rickett as finalists are Rob Brown of Bellevue, Mike Cook of Coastal Georgia, Maddux Lytle of Point, Brandon Miller of Keiser.
Rickett is now a 5-time finalist. He was recognized in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021 where he won the prestigious award for the 1st time as he led the Roadrunners to a National Championship.
The Birds have 3 team wins in 10 events played on the season with a 296.90 team scoring average. The program's streak of consecutive SSAC Tournament Championships ended this season at six, but its string of individual champions was extended as Steve Kibare collected the crown.
The Roadrunners are currently playing in the NAIA National Championships at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. They carried the lead after the 2nd Round setting the NAIA record for low 18 holes in defense of their 2021 National Championship.
