Patricia Crites Brogdon, 87, of Soddy Daisy, who loved the Lord and had faith in her Savior Jesus Christ and loved her family, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. 

 

She received the National 4H Award for Textiles and Clothing and was featured in Life Magazine and the cover of Farm and Ranch Magazine in the 1950s. Patricia graduated from Soddy Daisy High School in the class of 1952 and was a cheerleader. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in food marketing and textiles. She worked as the County Agent for Hamilton County Agricultural Extension Service. Patricia also taught at UTC and Kirkman High School. She was also the owner of Patricia’s Fine Fabrics. She had her own cooking show on Channel 9 and radio shows with Channel 3 and Channel 12 for many years. Patricia was a member of Soddy Methodist Church and later at Red Bank Methodist Church where after her retirement she loved to cook for the Wednesday night services. She loved the outdoors, camping and was real involved with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. 

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Joe Herman Brogdon; parents, Mayme and Elmer Bert “EB” Crites; sister, Jossette Abello. 

 

Survivors are her children, Dr. Joe Bert Brogdon (Barbara), Patrick “Scott” Brogdon (Rebecca), Dr. David “Grant” Brogdon (Roger), Timothy Andrew “Andy” Brogdon (Jennifer); grandchildren, Joseph, Samantha, John, Tyler, Jessica, Leah, Katie, Emily; great grandchildren, Beau, Buzz, Warren, Jax, Joshua, Jackson, Hannah, Fain, Mayme Drew and extended family.

 

Services will be on Monday, July 11, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel Rev. Toby Brogden officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

 

Visitation is on Sunday, July 10, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
