The Signal Mountain Lions Club is gearing up for its Labor Day, Sept. 5, BBQ Gala and Raffle. The fun will begin at 11 a.m. at Althaus Park behind the Country Club with pulled pork lunch, hamburgers and hot dogs with all the trimmings, and funnel cakes provided by the Lions and home-baked cookies and bakery items offered by the Signal Mountain Middle High School Leos, who are affiliated with the Lions. Drive-through bulk pork, beans and coleslaw will also be available.
There will be a raffle with a first prize of $10,000 cash and over 100 other items donated by community businesses.
The BBQ and raffle are the main fundraisers for the Lions and all funds go to Kid Site Screenings and other sight charities, scholarships for deserving high school seniors and community efforts like Bachman Center, MACC, Social Services, McCoy Farms and Gardens and the great Christmas Train.
Raffle tickets may be obtained at the Signal Mountain Recycling Center on Saturdays, or at the Labor Day event.
Check out the Lions Club website smtnlions.org for other Lions activities and complete list of charities assisted.
Live entertainment will feature "No Place for Old Men" from 11a.m.-2 p.m.
