Imogene Lea

After a valiant fight against late stage dementia, the Lord called his faithful servant, Imogene Lea, to her eternal home on Thursday, January 26, 2023. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Born on March 18, 1925, Imogene was a well-known and lifelong resident of Falling Water, Tn., for over 90 years. She was a graduate of Soddy Daisy High School and had a great love for life and most importantly, her family. She spent most of her career managing the school cafeteria at Daisy Elementary and in her later years, she worked at Coffee, Tea, Or, Something Old, Something New, and Marshalls Department Store.

Imogene was a woman of faith and impeccable moral character. She and her husband spent most of her early life attending Falling Water Baptist Church and later after her husband Jim’s death, she attended Calvary Baptist Church in Red Bank. At the time of her death, she was a member of First Baptist Church in Soddy Daisy with her son Alan’s family and a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class.

Imogene was blessed to spend many happy years with her sons’ Alan and Doug, grandsons’ Matt, Spencer, and Gray Lea, and her great grandchildren, Madison, Arabella, and Henry Lea. All together, they were the indisputable great loves of her life and she cherished every moment she had with them.

Despite her battle with dementia, Imogene spent the last few remaining years of her life basking in warm breezes and enjoying beautiful Floridian sunsets in Ocala, Florida, with her son Doug. She loved to sit on their back porch watching golfers at the golf course and ride around the subdivision on her golf cart. A social butterfly, she looked forward to weekly music and dancing on Friday and Saturday nights and bocce ball with her friends.

Imogene was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Lea, Jr., her parents, Lonnie and Sudie Johnson, and her brothers, Harold Loyd and Grady Johnson.

She is survived by her brother, Johnny Douglas (Sharon), her two sons, Alan Lea (Dianne) and Doug Lea. Survivors also include her grandsons, Matt Lea (Sharon), Spencer Lea, Gray Lea, and her great grandchildren, Madison, Arabella, and Henry Lea.

The funeral will be officiated by the Dr. Seton Tomyn.

Visitation will be at Williamson & Son Funeral Home in Soddy Daisy on Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 4–7 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 6, from 1–2 p.m.. A celebration of life and funeral will be held on Monday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home followed by a graveside remembrance at Hamilton Memorial Gardens on Highway 153 at 3 p.m.
