Bob Jimenez
This month, the Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association announced its 2023 Hall of Fame inductees, including Southern Adventist University alum Bob Jimenez of Atlanta.
A 1987 business graduate, Mr. Jimenez embodies his alma mater’s mission as an exemplary professional and servant leader, as well as a vibrant thinker and doer. With a strong passion for connecting people, seeing them as individuals and bringing out their best qualities, Mr. Jimenez has influenced and impacted corporate communications and culture, entrepreneurship development and diversity inclusion for more than three decades.
“Bob has used his sphere of influence to make people—whether an executive, a café barista or a building janitor—feel seen, heard and valued,” said Southern President Ken Shaw.
“While doing great things himself, he has intentionally empowered others to do the same, leaving a lasting legacy for good in our world.”
Mr. Jimenez’s career in corporate communications spans from Walt Disney World and AdventHealth
in Florida to Cox Enterprises in Atlanta, where he has served the past 20 years, most recently as senior vice president for corporate affairs. His accomplishments include overseeing messaging for Cox’s privatization, the largest transaction of its kind at the time; co-founding and directing an employee relief fund; and launching a corporate social responsibility initiative that acknowledges young people and non-profits for environmentally sustainable initiatives.
Named one of the 50 Most Influential Latinos in Georgia by the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Jimenez also has been cited as one of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics in America by Hispanic Business. He serves on the boards of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights and the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta, as well as The Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations at the University of Alabama.
Southern is one of 34 member institutions in TICUA, which engages Tennessee’s private, nonprofit colleges and universities to work collaboratively in areas of public policy, cost containment and professional development to better serve the state and its citizens. These schools have helped shape some of the nation’s most distinguished and impressive citizens, from Nobel laureates and Pulitzer Prize winners to faith leaders, entrepreneurs and elected officials.
