Chattanooga Red Wolves Sign Keeper TJ Bush

  • Thursday, January 11, 2024

TJ Bush, a goalkeeper from Herndon, Virginia, will be joining the Chattanooga Red Wolves squad for the 2024 season after two seasons with USL League One South Georgia Tormenta FC, pending league and federation approval.

In 2022, Bush joined South Georgia Tormenta FC after a stint at Charlotte Independence. Bush
recorded 45 saves with an 80.4% saving percentage and six clean sheets during his first season
in Statesboro. He also conceded zero penalty goals and one penalty saved in 2022. Bush was a
part of the championship team who won the USL League One title with a 2-1 victory against the
Chattanooga Red Wolves along with newly signed teammate Jamil Roberts.

Bush ended the 2023 season having played 1,271 minutes for South Georgia, starting 14 times
out of 15 appearances. Bush recorded 25 saves, nine catches, ten punches, and 19 clearances.
During his college years at James Madison University, Bush appeared in 66 games over three
seasons with 6,088 minutes played with 191 saves made at 78.3% accuracy. In his senior year, TJ
was third in the country for save percentage (.882) and is the career shutout program record
holder with 30. At the end of his collegiate career, Bush was drafted 80th overall in the 2021
MLS SuperDraft by Seattle Sounders FC.

Bush added, “I am very excited to be joining the Chattanooga Red Wolves for the 2024 season.
I’ve heard many great things about the club, fans, and community. I’m looking forward to
playing in front of the Chattanooga Red Wolves fans. I can’t wait for the season to start, see you
all soon at CHI Memorial Stadium!”

“We took a real deep dive into goalkeepers in the market from college, USL, abroad and knew
we needed to sign proven quality but also a player with a lot of potential, who can grow and
develop in our environment. TJ fits the bill. He is a winner, he is a top shot stopper, good with
the ball at his feet and is going to be a major addition to the team. Very excited to get him
onboard for 2024,” said head coach Scott Mackenzie.

The Chattanooga Red Wolves will begin their 2024 season on the road against Lexington SC on
Saturday, March 15th before returning to CHI Memorial Stadium for their home opener on
Saturday, March 30th. Season tickets are available to purchase online.
