State Representative Greg Martin announced Tuesday he will be conducting a series of video calls with high school students, their parents and teachers to keep them informed on what’s taking place in the General Assembly.
The student-oriented calls will include 11th and 12th graders from public and private schools in Hamilton County’s 26th District. This includes parts of Sale Creek, the unincorporated area of Soddy-Daisy, Hixson, Riverview, Harrison, Lupton City, North Shore, Lakesite and downtown Chattanooga.
“Students are the future of this state,” Rep.
Martin said. “They deserve to know what’s happening in Nashville, and I hope to involve them in our political process. My goal is to engage students with their government in real time and get them excited about the Tennessee’s direction as they prepare to finish school and enter college or the workforce.”
The first call will take place on Jan. 30, and participants can register by emailing Rep. Martin’s office at rep.greg.martin@capitol.tn.gov.
The video call discussions will center around current events, civics, proposed legislation and civility in politics. Rep. Martin will also host various leaders from across the state to join these discussions.
The links will be sent out to any 11th or 12th grade student, parent or teacher who registers.
