The Chattanooga women’s indoor track and field team returns to action for the Samford Invitational Friday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
“We are looking to build on the meet last weekend as we bump up the intensity a little more this week,’ head coach Andy Meyer said. “Samford puts on such a competitive meet that it forces us to dig a little deeper than we did last week.
“We have some moving up in distances and some moving down to work on speed. We are hoping to progress our competitiveness and show a little more improvement in our form.”
Action will begin with Ava McGue in the women’s long jump at 12:30 p.m.
Eastern time. She will take part in the high jump at 5:30 p.m.
The women’s Mile with Leslie Boyd, Leah Boyd, Andrea Ellis and Kathryn Vradenburgh will get the track portion of the meet started for UTC.
Sarah Unterholzner will look to improve her season-opening time in the 400 meter dash. Maddie Wheatcroft posted a PR in the 800 meter in the opener and will be joined by Leah Boyd, Ellis, Lexi Foley, Hannah Dearing and Kennedy Reynolds.
Leslie Boyd along with Wheatcroft will compete in the 3000 meter run along with Lola Baker, Brooke Tyll, Allie Potter and Camden Morris at 5:25 p.m.
The meet will conclude with the 4x400 meter. Chattanooga will once again have two teams competing in the relay.
