The Women’s Fund of Greater Chattanooga has hired a new executive director, Melody Shekari.
Ms. Shekari officially joined the team on Monday. She has extensive experience managing teams, working with notable stakeholders and advocating for policy issues.
Most recently, she worked as an attorney and consultant at her own firm, Shekari Law PLLC, where she consulted with local officials and worked on federal grant applications.
Ms. Shekari earned a Bachelor of Science in Managerial Economics from Bentley University, a Master in Public Administration from the University of Washington, and a Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of Southern California.
The timing also allows Ms. Shekari to join Policy and Advocacy Director Joanna Theolene in attending the Tennessee Statewide Women's Policy Conference on Thursday and Friday.
In other news, the Women's Fund of Greater Chattanooga received a $20,000 grant from the Unum Inclusive Impact program, and these funds will support its ongoing justice initiatives.
